Job Description:
Evening Shelter Staff manages general operations and safety of the residents within the shelter.
This position oversees the individuals residing in the home and orients new residents when they arrive.
Also involves interacting with volunteers who may come to serve dinner or conduct workshops and presentations with the residents.
Ability to communicate effectively with individuals of diverse backgrounds and who may suffer from chronic physical or mental health conditions Requires ability to maintain composure and take charge when situations may arise between residents or when a resident is not following rules and procedures.
OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:
General custodial activities as needed.
Residents are expected to keep their areas neat and tidy.
Conduct announced and random inspections periodically as determined by the House Case Manager.
Document activities and incidents of residents as determined by Case Manager Participate in group activities organized for residents Computer experience a plus WORK HOURS:
Part-Time (24-30 hours weekly) will require weekend work Shift hours are generally 5pm-12pm and may vary WORK LOCATION:
Hurlock, Maryland EDUCATION, SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent Strong written and oral communication skills in addition to critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to work with people of diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the needs of the homeless Understanding of, and strong adherence to, social work ethics Ability to work in a team environment ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to satisfactorily complete and pass all required background screenings Must possess a valid Class C Maryland Driver's License Follow program policies and procedures Respect the confidential nature of all DCS, Inc.
